Landscapes (by Felicity Seidl)
I’ve been thinking a lot about “professionalism” lately and how deeply loaded my own notion of what does and doesn’t count as “professional” is with racial, gendered, ability, and class markers. Seems to me that, pretty often, when I’m told to behave “professionally” I’m really being told to behave in a way consistent with a value system that centers white currently abled men with money and education.
This isn’t at all an innovative insight, just the kind of thing I think about when I can’t sleep and it’s 2am. Along with sex and champagne.
<3 think of the color of those tables and breathe?
